Elaine, John and Armin van Buuren help launch AMS-IX New York’s peering services
On April 11th 2014, AMS-IX hosted an exciting and unique launch party to mark the opening of their brand new East coast Exchange. The event took place on the stunning ‘Stad Amsterdam’. The beautiful Clipper was moored at the very on-trend location of the Chelsea Piers where over 130 telecoms professionals met to network and celebrate the launch of AMS-IX New York.
AMS-IX New York is designed on AMS-IX’s successful and proven European business model. Moreover, it is the only Open-IX certified Internet exchange in the New York/New Jersey area. The partnership enables IX Reach to remotely connect parties to peer at the exchange and enhance their IP service offering on the East coast. As the service was launched, it was available at key data centres across the city including: DLR – 111 8th Avenue, NY; DFT NJ1 – 101 Possumtown Road, NJ; Sabey Data Centers – 375 Pearl Street, NY; and 325 Hudson Street, NY.
After food, drinks and a speech from the Mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan, about the importance of communication in this modern and connected world, attendees were treated by AMS-IX to concert tickets for the number one international DJ, Armin van Buuren, at Madison Square Gardens.
