July, 2012: IX Reach, an International layer 2 carrier, has added Netnod – a Swedish-based Internet Exchange organisation to its extensive PoP (Point of Presence) list, which has already been connected to its expansive international network. This new partnership will allow IX Reach customers a better coverage when entering the Scandinavian and European market, providing them with direct and secure connectivity and colocation into the Telecity Bromma Internet Exchange point (IXP) operated by Netnod in the Swedish city of Stockholm.
Netnod is Sweden’s largest Internet Exchange carrying 300Gbps of traffic and its expansive coverage allows IX Reach customers to have wider access through its robust and reliable network into Sweden while offering capacities ranging from 100Mbps to multiple 10Gbps. Through its comprehensive network, IX Reach can provide direct connectivity from any on-net location to Sweden, opening up the Scandinavian country to the rest of Europe and North America. Netnod is the main gateway for Russian ISPs to Europe and the Baltic countries with some of the biggest transit and hosting providers from those marketplaces peering there.
Monica O’Meany, Founder and CEO of IX Reach, commented regarding the development “We are extremely excited about our network expansion into Stockholm. Adding Netnod to the vast number of Internet Exchanges that we can connect customers to will bring even more value to the commercial relationship we have with existing and future customers. Netnod is now part of a wide portfolio of partners, which was a key point in our strategy to expand our footprint into the Nordics. I am sure of the positive results this partnership will bring for both companies.”
IX Reach is happy to have this new partnership with the independent Swedish Internet exchange, Netnod. Netnod is a highly successful Internet Exchange, which enjoys some of the highest volumes of traffic per peer in Europe; by consistently adding more of these key PoPs to the IX Reach network, it will open up many more options for customers and give them more choice for their requirements.
